General Interest

OLYMPIC SELECTION
Although he did not individually qualify for any event at the Dutch Olympic Trials, Bosker was still picked for the 2022 Olympic Winter Games in Beijing. With only Patrick Roest and Sven Kramer qualified, the Dutch team pursuit - which have won the past eight world titles in the event - needed a third top racer. Bosker was elected by the federation, at the cost of his team mates Tijmen Snel and Dai Dai N'tab. Bosker also was appointed to race the 1500m individually - at the cost of another team mate, Patrick Roest. The appointment led to some hatred for Bosker on social media, but he was able to distance himself from it. "I think we have a better chance at gold in the team pursuit now", he said, shortly after winning the European title. (nu.nl, 8 Jan 2022)

SWITCHES
Also eligible to represent Switzerland, he has chosen to compete for the Netherlands (although he skated for Switzerland when still a teenager). To improve his skating skills, he moved to the Netherlands at age 14 and lived with a host family in Ten Boer. (gic.nl, 3 Jan 2022; isu.org, 2022)
