SILVER GRATITUDE
After qualifing for the 1000m at the Sochi 2014 Winter Olympic Games, he decided to relinquish his spot to his teammate, Denny Morrison. Morrison had fallen during the Canadian Olympic trials, and rewarded his compatriot's generosity by winning a silver medal in the event. For his selfless act, Junio later received a crowdfunded medal through the "Thanks Gilmore" campaign. (Schaatsseizoen 48, 2020; insidethegames.biz, 14 May 2014)
