STUCK IN INDONESIA
In April 2020, she got stuck in Indonesia where she and fellow speed skater Anna Chernova (Sochi 2014 Olympian) were having their holiday on Bali. The Russian Federation closed incoming air travel over COVID-19 concerns, leaving almost 100 athletes stranded abroad. Sokhryakova and Chernova were the last of these to return, after which they had to go into a two-week quarantine. During this period, she faced harsh public backlash, particularly as she still posted holiday photos during this period.
