Brother Helmuts Silvos (Short track): Competed in the 2003 World Championships, and two European championships.

Short track: Finished in the top-15 in all three distances at the Vancouver 2010 Olympic Winter Games, while also competing in one speed skating race. Three-time medallist at the European Championships, winning the allround title in 2008 and 2011, and was runner-up in 2009. Had one World Cup podium finish in 2006 in Heerenveen.

Mountain biking: Won the 2001 Latvian Junior Championship at age 15.

2009 World Cup in Calgary (1000m B - 17th, 1500m B - 15th, 5000m B - 6th)

February 2021: Two cut ligaments in his left foot, after contact with another skating during the mass start at the World Championships in Heerenveen. Required surgery and several months recovery.

March 2019: Broke his hand during the World Cup in Salt Lake City.

2005: Broken ankle, missing six weeks.
