General Interest

ABUSE SUSPENSION
In July 2019, was suspended by the Korean Skating Union. Was found guilty of physically abusing two teammates in incidents from 2011, 2013 and 2016. After earlier denials, Lee offered his apologies after his suspension ended in August 2020: "I will take care not to repeat the same mistakes." (Schaatsseizoen 49, 2021)

STAMINA
Despite competing in shorter distances in short track, chose to concentrate on the 5,000 m and 10,000m when he moved to speed skating. "The reason I chose the 5,000m, and not the 500m or 1,500m, is because my strength is stamina and my weakness is quickness. I'm not that tall, but I'm proud of my stamina. If there were a 20,000m event, I guarantee that I'd win it." (Info 2018)

SUBWAY SAFETY
In March 2018, his voice could be heard in the Seoul subway with a message about safety. "In speed skating, it is important to go fast, but in the subway, safety is the most important." (namu.wiki, 2022)
