General Interest

SKATING NOMAD
With a small base of top skaters in Estonia, he was required to move across the continent to train. In 2015 he was admitted to the Kia Speed Skating Academy, based in Inzell, Germany. From 2016-18 he joined the Austrian team, before switching to train with the Polish sprint team from 2018-20. In 2020, he settled in the Netherlands to join commercial team IKO. Milestones

In PyeongChang 2018, he was the first speed skater to represent Estonia at the Olympics in 82 years, succeeding Aleksander Mitt who competed in 1928 and 1936.

First Estonian to win a World Championship medal in speed skating, bronze in the 1000m at the 2016 Junior World Championships.
