Initially played ice hockey before switching to speed skating. "I immediately realized that the team game wasn't for me. I needed a sport where the only one responsible for the outcome was me. General Interest

COVID-19
Competed at the 2020 FISU World University Championships on the open-air rink in Amsterdam, which were cancelled due to the worsening pandemic. With signs of a cold, Golovatsiuk was isolated and spent three days in a hospital in Minsk before testing negative for COVID-19. Likely contracted a cold in the rainy competitions. TRAINING
During the 2019-20 season, he trained with the Russian team under Konstantin Poltavets.

Milestones

First skater to win a medal for Belarus at the World Junior Championships, winning gold (500 m) and bronze (team sprint) in 2016 (Changchun). Belarusian skater, Igor Zhelezovski, won Allround silver in 1982 representing the Soviet Union.

Fifteen top-10 World Cup finishes, with a career-best sixth (500m) at Heerenveen in January 2021. Had six Junior World Cup podium finishes.

National record holder in the 500m (34.69), 1000m (1:07.32), Team Sprint (1:21.47) and Team Pursuit (3:49.78). First broke the 500m record in December 2014 and the 1000m in August 2017, and has held both continuously.

Won 22 national titles in 32 starts, and has only placed outside the top-10 four times.
