2016: Broken big toe during strength training in the Netherlands, after another athlete dropped a barbell onto her foot. Was sidelined for six months. When she was able to train again, it was discovered that she had mononucleosis which resulted in nearly six months of inactivity from late January to June 2016, during which time she mostly rested at her parents' house. Returned to competition at the Europa Cup in November 2016.
