Began skiing at age two and learned snowboarding at age five. “Dad was a ski instructor and mum and he were doing back-to-back seasons from Jindabyne to Saint Moritz and because they loved it so much, we were destined to follow in their footsteps”. Her father ran snowboard camps and the family would go to Mammoth, CA. In 2015, she began to take it more seriously as she started to secure good results. (owia.org)

"Skiing was my thing until about three years ago, when I made the switch to snowboarding. I loved ski racing but it is really competitive, and I was winning a fair few of the snowboard events I was competing in. So, after getting onto NSWIS [NSW Institute of Sport] I decided to swap disciplines." (olympics.com.au, 27 Oct 2021)

Winning snowboard cross gold at the 2020 Winter Youth Olympic Games in Lausanne: "The Youth Olympic Games were incredible. The weather was perfect, we met so many other athletes from other countries. It was just the best experience of my life." (olympics.com.au, 27 Oct 2021)

General Interest

ADVANTAGE OF YOUTH
"To be a champion ski racer, you’ve got to be very strong and powerful. It takes a while to develop that, physically. But in snowboard, being young is an advantage because you’re very mobile and very fearless. When people want to try to do gnarly tricks at 14, they just go out and do it." (olympics.com/en, 14 Dec 2020)

SPORT AUSTRALIA SCHOLARSHIP
"Having this opportunity is such an honour and so exciting! It is so powerful to have access to one-on-one mentoring with Susie O’Neill who is such an incredible and knowledgeable athlete who is going to be able to guide me through not only my sporting career but my life outside of sport as well. I feel as though it will open doors to invaluable advice and knowledge that is going to help me grow as an individual and become the best athlete I can possibly be. I am so thankful for this opportunity and am looking forward to seeing what this experience will bring." (sahof.org.au, 2022)
