February 2018: Concussion when she crashed during practice at the PyeongChang 2018 Olympic Games, and was forced to withdraw. "It's disappointing to not compete but it's the right call for my health. As an athlete, you're always going to want to push yourself but it’s important to draw the line when needed. I'm proud to have made it this far, and you'll see me back at the Olympics for Canada and for myself, in four years time."
March 2017: Concussion during her time trial at the 2017 World Championships in Sierra Nevada. Did not compete for the rest of the season and was only cleared to return to competition in June 2017.

Started snowboard lessons at age 12 after skiing. Initially, she didn't like it and she only snowboarded at night because she was so embarrassed she didn't want to be at the hill when it was busy. Slowly introduced to racing in heats, her father suggested competing in the U14 category at national championships. At age 15 she won the overall title on the British Columbia provincial tour (olympic.ca/team-canada).
In 2015 Prince George hosted the Canada Winter Games on her home Tabor Mountain, where the race was held on the run named "Etas X Course" (meryeta.com). Grew up practising BMX racing, where her passion for extreme sports began. (meryeta.com)
"Every day will be different. Give yourself a chance for a daily win, and they will build to a month of success." (meryeta.com)
