"I want to inspire anyone to go out there and try snowboarding and feel the same feeling and feel the same love I have for my sport. I want to inspire more people to go out there, get out of the city." (olympics.com, 2 Dec 2020)

Getting back on a snowboard to win gold at X Games 2019 two months after his final chemotherapy treatment in June 2019, six months after he was diagnosed with cancer. “It was a very special moment that I’ll remember for the rest of my life. It felt amazing to ride along with the other riders, who I hadn’t seen for months. And on top of that, after all the hard work at the gym to regain the muscles and cardio that I’d lost during treatments, I was able to win gold. But to win it was really just the candy at the end." (copingmag.com, March 2021)
Racecar driver Lewis Hamilton (GBR), F1 driver. Has won a joint-record seven World Drivers' Championship titles. "I've actually already met Lewis Hamilton and I really admire the competitive side of him. He's such a warrior when he gets in his car and drives it." (olympics.com, 2 Dec 2020)
Facing cancer taught him to live really in the present moment, which is what he puts into his daily routine, especially since the quarantine. "So, in April and March (2020), when I was taking more time for myself, I was also appreciating the time every day. And I wasn't thinking, 'In two months I'm going to start going back to the gym,' no I was really going day by day and I still do that now. I think it's definitely good to think about the future because you want to see your goals, you want to see where you're going, but it's important to live every day and in the present moment."
