Her family all switched over to snowboarding when she was two, with her beginning on a small hill in her backyard at home in Mackenzie, BC. They all learned together and fell in love with the sport. When she was five years old, her parents gave her and her brother the choice of moving to Mexico or to Big White Ski Resort in British Columbia, Canada: a hot, sunny city or the mountain life. Entered Big White Ski Resort’s Neil Edgeworth Memorial Banked Slalom (her first race at Big White) when she was six years old - coming second only to her brother. At the age of 14, she was picked up by the B.C. provincial team. (tesscritchlow.com; olympic.ca; bigwhite.com; stokodesign.com).
"Snowboarding = happiness. Out in the mountains with your favourite people slashing pow, or training on course with the team; there is just nothing that is more freeing and challenging at the same time." (canadasnowboard.ca)
Competing at the PyeongChang 2018 Olympic Winter Games. "It was a goal of mine since I was 14, that was when I really committed to it, and being able to achieve that was amazing, the experience was incredible." (cbc.ca, 3 Dec 2019)
Her father bought her snowboard cross tickets for the Vancouver 2010 Olympic Winter Games where she saw one of her idols, Maelle Ricker (CAN), win gold. (olympic.ca)
None. But does have a playlist titled “I freaking love these chips” that she shuffles through to get her pumped up. (bigwhite.com; stokodesign.com)
