Grew up riding at Winter Park Resort where she joined the snowboard team at age 11. From there, learned to ride and eventually got into snowboard cross and have been competing ever since. (Athlete, 8 Oct 2021)
Loves snowboard cross because it is not subjective to judging or opinion. "It is a test of athleticism, speed, authentic snowboard roots, and of course the ability to overcome fear. There is nowhere else in the world like being in a start gate where the world just falls away and it's you, the snow, and your board. It's both beautifully simple yet constantly evolving and pushing you to redefine your own limits." (Athlete, 8 Oct 2021)
To be the best in the world. "If every day I am better than I was yesterday then every day I have a new focus, new motivation. Of course, I want to stand on the top of an Olympic podium and hold a Crystal Globe above my head, and I am working to do that, but my goal is not a place or a specific thing, it's the idea of constantly improving, constantly fighting to do just a little more than before. I am my own biggest competitor but also my own biggest motivator and in that sense, I have no limits and that is my goal." (Athlete, 8 Oct 2021)
Finishing sixth as the top US rider at the Are 2021 SBX World Championships, which is also her best result so far. (Athlete, 8 Oct 2021)
Teammate Faye Gulini (USA), snowboarder. "It has been a dream come to true to train alongside her and be able to call her family. She constantly inspires me with her unwavering determination and hard work as well as her ferocity on a board. But my favorite thing about Faye is how good of a teammate and friend she is. Beyond the competition, beyond the medal, she is without a doubt one of the most selfless and compassionate humans I know. I feel very lucky to have come into this sport and race alongside her knowing that she is one of greats both on course and off." (Athlete, 8 Oct 2021)
"There are more people than I can count that have had a tremendous influence on my career. I believe we are a sum of our experiences and the people we meet so without all of them I would not be where I am now. However, my mom has definitely had one of the largest influences on the life path I choose. She introduced me to snow sport and for as long as I can remember the Olympic torch and her Paralympic medal have sat in our living room for me to dream of every day. She is my biggest hero and role model and supports me unconditionally. If it had not been for her sacrifice and determination and the life she built I would not have had the opportunities I've had or the vision to see what's possible. Without her, the dream of becoming an Olympian would have stayed as just that, a dream." (Athlete, 8 Oct 2021)
Every time she enters the start gate for a race, once strapped in and ready to go, she pauses, closes her eyes, takes a deep breath and looks to the horizon as far as she can see. "Something about seeing the vastness of our world and the beauty of every environment I'm in calms my nerves and reminds me of how fortunate I am to have the opportunities I have. My life is incredible and I don't want to take one moment for granted so when the pressure is on and the nerves are up, this little moment is mine, and I will always do it. That and I like to sing/ hum and maybe dance a little to one of my favourite songs right before we drop for a heat." (Athlete, 8 Oct 2021)
"It's not about the medals or winning, all that will come when you realise that the goal is joy. When you love what you are doing and you give it your all, then you have already won. The rest is simply decoration. And this to me is summed up in two words, courtesy of the late (SBX) legend Alex Chumpy Pullin (AUS), 'All in'." (Athlete, 8 Oct 2021)
