General Interest

ALL-FEMALE CONTEST
Is the inspirational leader and mentor for Super Girl Snow Pro, a top-level snowboard cross and big air competition with the world’s top female pros and some up-and-coming talented amateurs. "It’s incredibly important to lay the foundation for the future of women’s snowboarding, Super Girl Pro does a great job of empowering women and putting pros and amateurs together in a unique environment so that we can pass along our experiences to the next generation.” (lindseyjacobellis.com, 26 Jun 2019)

OLYMPIC SPELL
Although she has always been one of the favourites to win the Olympic title, in four consecutive Games she has only achieved one silver. At Torino 2006, while she had been in the lead for almost the entire final, on the second to last jump she pulled off a backside air, lost her balance and fell, letting Tanja Frieden (SUI) win gold. At both Vancouver 2010 and Sochi 2014, she went out in the semifinals. At Pyeongchang 2018, she had cruised through the preliminary rounds and was poised again to finally win gold, but after being in the lead halfway through the course, she fell behind in the homestretch and finished in fourth place at only 0.03 seconds from bronze.

HALFPIPE
Competed in both snowboard cross and halfpipe during the early part of her career. Recorded several top-three finishes in World Cup halfpipe events and finished eighth at the 2005 World Championships. However, in 2008, decided to focus solely on snowboard cross to maximise her potential and reduce the risk of injury. (Info 2018)

COMMUNITY INVOLVEMENT
In 2002, donated 25cm of her hair to 'Locks of Love,' a charity that makes wigs for children with cancer who have lost their hair because of chemotherapy treatment. Also supports the Keep-A-Breast Foundation, which aims to raise awareness about breast cancer. (Info 2018)
