General Interest

BROTHER'S INFLUENCE
In 2013 his brother Nicolas was involved in a motorbike accident that kept him in a coma for two months with a cerebral haemorrhage. "It was a big blow. I left the sport for quite some time. He was very bad. Doctors said he would not be able to survive the night." His brother eventually recovered from the accident. "I did not want to do anything after seeing him in such bad shape, but after he started to recover, just the fact of watching him getting better, that encouraged me and regained my focus on the Olympic Games." He finished seventh in snowboard cross at the 2014 Olympic Winter Games in Sochi, and claimed the World Cup snowboard cross title in 2015. "I never thought to get that high. My brother was important in that success. Despite his problems he wakes up with a smile and makes everybody laugh. His fight encourages me." (Info 2018)

LOSS OF COACH
In March 2017 the Spanish national coach Israel Planas died of a cerebral stroke. "He was like a member of my family, sometimes like a father and other times like a brother. I will always be very thankful to him for all what he did for us." (Info 2018)

NATIONAL FIRST
He became the first Spanish snowboarder to win a World Cup event (Veysonnaz, 2015), a World Cup title (2015) and world championship title (2021).
