General Interest

SWITCH TO ITALIAN TEAM
In January 2021, the American-born snowboarder with Italian heritage switched from the US to the Italian halfpipe team. "It has always been a dream of mine to compete in the Olympics. Once I achieved that goal, I wanted to do it again and honour my grandparents and my Italian heritage because family is everything to me. After some time, I can finally say that I will be competing for a spot on the Italian Olympic Team. Time to get to work!" (louievito.com, 29 Jan 2021)

CAST MEMBER ON FISHING REALITY SHOW
Appeared on "One-Boat Challenge", a US reality show, where they invited eight competitors from around the US to Lake El Salto, Mexico, and armed them with the world's most advanced fishing system, for a chance to win $10,000 for their fishing charity of choice. (louievito.com, Apr 2020)

PHILANTROPY
Each year he holds the “Louie Vito Rail Jam” in his hometown at Mad River Mountain. The event is held to mentor young riders who are given the opportunity to compete without an entry fee and get outfitted in Vito’s premium gear. The Rail Jam supports local charity, St. Vincent De Paul, through money raised from auction items and food donated for the food bank by everyone who attends. (louievito.com, Jan 2014)

COMPETING AND TV HOST
In January 2014, was the first athlete to ever co-host for both ESPN and ABC and compete in the X Games at the same time, ending up winning the silver medal in the Superpipe.

MAGAZINE AND TV APPEARANCES
Had a speaking part in the 2015 remake of the movie Point Break, hosted several projects for Red Bull-TV and ESPN, appeared on numerous TV shows on Nickelodeon such as 100 Things to do before High School and Jagger Eaton’s Mega Life. He also starred on ABC Family TV’s Switched. Featured in ESPN The Magazine’s "Body Issue" in 2011.

DANCING WITH THE STARS
In September 2009, competed on the ninth season of US TV show "Dancing with the Stars" placing eighth. Partnered with professional dancer Chelsie Hightower (USA), he rehearsed for the show at the same time that he was training for the 2010 Vancouver Olympic Games. Three months later, he represented the United States at the Vancouver Games coming in fifth in the halfpipe final. "I was so far out of my comfort zone that it actually made my snowboarding easy," he said of the TV show.
