October 2016: Tore the anterior cruciate ligament (ACL), medial collateral ligament (MCL) and meniscus in his knee in a snowboarding accident in New Zealand. He returned to the United States of America to have surgery in San Diego, California, and then moved to Park City, Utah, to continue his rehabilitation. He returned to the slopes in February 2017.
