Grew up close to Ruka resort, started skiing at age six and then switched to snowboarding at age nine. (Athlete, 7 Oct 2021)
"It was really natural to do winters sports in north of Finland and snowboarding seemed so cool and exciting compared to cross country skiing or any other traditional sport. I got influenced by snowboarders like (2002 halfpipe Olympian) Heikki Sorsa (FIN) and (two-time halfpipe world champion) Antti Autti (FIN).
