Milestones

OLYMPIC WINTER GAMES
Participated in six Olympic Winter Games, his debut was at Nagano 1998. Double individual Olympic champion in Salt Lake City 2002 and in Vancouver 2010. Only ski jumper to win the "double double gold" (normal hill and large hill) twice.

WORLD CHAMPIONSHIPS
Competed in 11 World Championships between 1999 and 2021, only missing 2001. Four-time medallist winning one gold (large hill) and one silver (normal hill) 2007 in Sapporo, two bronze in 2009 (normal hill) and 2011 (large hill).

In 2010, he was Ski-Flying world champion, winning by more than 25 points over Gregor Schlierenzauer (AUT).

WORLD CUP
In 24 World Cup seasons (was age 16 when he started), 2021/22 being his 21st consecutive one, he stands at 23 individual wins, his first in 2002 in Oslo (large hill); his last to date in Ruka in 2014 (large hill). Won the overall ranking in 2009/10, finished second in 2008/09 and 2010/11, third in 2006/07.

FOUR HILLS TOURNAMENT
Participated 21 times and finished on the overall podium four times (second in 2008/09 and 2010/11; third in 2006/07 and 2013/14).

SEASON 2021/22
Suffered an ankle injury in early summer, came back for the third leg of the Summer Grand Prix in Courchevel where he finished third. He did not participate in any further Summer Grand Prix events.
In the winter season he did not participate in all events, a 13th place in Oberstdorf his best result. He is currently ranked 38th in the overall World Cup.
