Spring 2021: Ankle surgery, but back to normal training in summer. After the qualification for the Summer Grand Prix in Wisla (POL), he withdrew because of swelling in the ankle. He underwent an MRI exam and a few days later the doctors gave him the all-clear. Competed in the last two events of the Summer Grand Prix 2021. "After the surgery, I wanted to train normally again and compete in the Grand Prix opener in Wisla, that's why I rushed to come back. My good jumps in Wisla then proved that I don't necessarily need that much training on the hill because the technique is good and nothing essential has to be improved." GETTING READY FOR BEIJING 2022
The main goal for him is to win gold in Beijing as he is believed to be one of the strongest favourites. "This is a really special time as the Winter Olympics is approaching. For every athlete, the Olympic competition is a great celebration. Now it's time for us to calm down and prepare, both in the head and the body. This season is going to be great in general. There are many nice contests waiting for us along the way. I cannot wait." (news.cn, 19 Oct 2021

General Interest

GREAT TEAMWORK
Poland's ski jumping team will be prepared well for the Beijing 2022 Olympic Winter Games. "We have a great team. And I'm not talking only about the ski jumpers, but most of all about the training staff. They work practically 24 hours a day. They create the conditions for us to develop. In this respect, we are perhaps the best jumping group in the world." (news.cn, 19 Oct 2021)

CLUB
Together with his wife, he founded his own club in 2014 (KS Eve-nement Zakopane), to support young children and young jumpers. (przegladsportowy.pl, 17 Dec 2017).

CAREER TURNING POINT
A turning point in his sports career and life was his marriage to his wife Ewa in 2010, and then winning his first World Cup six months later. Says he now has something more important than sports in his life. (wyborcza.pl, 30 Mar 2018)

Milestones

OLYMPIC WINTER GAMES
Finished fourth in the large hill event and sixth in normal hill. He missed by one rank to tie Matti Nykaenen's record of five Olympic medals won in ski jumping. In the mixed team event he also finished sixth, with Nicole Konderla, Dawid Kubacki and Kinga Rajda on the team.

Three-time Olympic champion. In Sochi 2014, he became the third man to win both individual ski jumping events at one Olympic Winter Games, after Finn Matti Nykanen (1988) and Swiss Simon Ammann (2002, 2010). In PyeongChang 2018, he won individual gold in the large hill and a bronze medal with the team.

At Beijing 2022, he will become only the fourth Polish athlete to take part in five Olympic Winter Games, 16 years after his debut at Torino 2006 (after bobsledder Dawid Kupczyk, biathlete Tomasz Sikora, speedskater Katarzyna Wojcicka-Bachleda-Curus).

WORLD CHAMPIONSHIPS
Six-time World Championships medallist in four appearances (2013-21), two individual, four with the team. Two golds (2013 large hill, 2017 team), one silver (2019 normal hill), three team bronze (2013, 2015, 2021).

Competed at three Junior World Championships (2003-05), winning two team silver medals (2004, 2005).

Three-time Ski-Flying World Championships medallist winning one individual silver (2018) and a pair of team bronzes (2018, 2020).

WORLD CUP
The 2021/22 season is his 18th season in the sport and he stands at 39 individual wins (seven with the team) and 80 individual podium finishes. Has won the overall World Cup twice (2013/14 and 2017/18 - his best season so far with 9 individual wins).
His first World Cup win occurred in his home country in Jan 2011 in Zakopane.

FOUR HILLS TOURNAMENT
Won the Four Hills Tournament three times (2016/17, 2017/18, 2020/21). With his win in 2017/18, he became the second and one of only three ski jumpers, alongside Germany's Sven Hannawald (2001/02 ) and Japan's Ryoyu Kobayashi (2018/19), to win the "grand slam" of all four competitions in a single Four Hills Tournament.

SEASON 2021/22
After an ankle injury, he tried his comeback at the beginning at the Summer Grand Prix, withdrew again, and finally had his comeback in the last two events of the Summer Grand Prix 2021. In the winter season, he is still not back to his usual form, finishing four times in the top-10. However, he did make one occurrence back on the podium, when he finished third in Klingenthal.
He took some time out mid-season to focus on some special training, so he missed his home World Cup in Zakopane.
He is currently ranked overall 20th in the World Cup.

OTHER
In 2018, at age 30, he became the oldest individual Olympic gold medallist and World Cup titlist in ski jumping history. (polandin.com, 12 Jun 2018)
