8 April 2021: Surgery on his collarbone fracture suffered during his 25 March 2021 crash. (insidethegames.biz, 12 Apr 2021)

25 March 2021: Broken collarbone, lung injuries, and was rendered unconscious for a while when he lost control over his left ski as he set off at 100 kilometres per hour, rotated in the air and landed heavily on the slope, sliding all the way down the hill in the ski flying World Cup in Planica. Was airlifted by helicopter to Ljubljana Medical Centre where he was intubated and mechanically ventilated. Was woken from the medically induced coma a few days later. Came back in August 2021 and participated in the last leg of the Summer Grand Prix in Klingenthal. "Waiting for the first jumps was awful. I felt that I was ready to jump long before I was given the green light. I knew why I had to wait, but it was a bit difficult for me to watch my teammates jump. Now I'm finally back and it's just amazing." (n-tv.de; fis-ski.com)

2018: Stevens-Johnson syndrome (rare, serious disorder of the skin and mucous membranes), causing him to lose a lot of weight and had to pause training during the summer, but was back for the World Cup start in the winter. (n-tv.de)

Milestones

OLYMPIC WINTER GAMES
Team member at the Sochi 2014 Olympic Winter Games, but was not nominated to compete in any of the events. At PyeongChang 2018, he was a member of the gold medal-winning team, was fourth on the large hill (2.2 points from bronze), and sixth on the normal hill.

WORLD CHAMPIONSHIPS
2017 World Championships team silver medallist behind Poland. Individual best is ninth on the normal hill in 2021.

At three Ski-Flying World Championships, he is a four-time champion winning three team golds (2016, 2018, 2020) and one individual gold (2018).

2014 Junior World Championships team bronze medallist (fifth in 2013).

WORLD CUP
First individual World Cup win in 2015 in Klingenthal. Since then he finished 25 times on the podium, with seven victories. His best years in the overall World Cup were seasons 2016/17 and 2017/18, finished third both times.

FOUR HILLS TOURNAMENT
Finished third in the 2016/17 season, after winning two of the four events.

SEASON 2021/22
After his crash and injury at the end of season 2020/21, he fully recovered and returned to competing for the last leg of the Summer Grand Prix and finished 12th. His season was one of mixed performances, ranking from a second place in Klingenthal (large hill) to barely making the point ranks or not even qualifying for the main event. Finished in the top-20 six times. Missed the last four World Cups before the Olympic Winter Games because he tested positive for COVID-19.
