Season 2021/22: Knee problems again, decided to skip the World Cup in Willingen to give her knees more rest.

September 2021: Knee surgery.

April 2017: Cartilage fracture in her right knee which required surgery, and in November she had another surgery.

2013: Ruptured anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) as well as menisci in her left knee after a crash in Hinterzarten. Came back in December, but had to end season 2013/14 early because of recurring meniscus problems.

Always wanted to try ski jumping as a kid, but at first, was not allowed to, since it was only for boys. Started cross-country skiing and football, but eventually switched over to ski jumping. (Athlete, Jul 2021)

Milestones

Silver normal hill medal at the Sochi 2014 Olympic Winter Games when ski jumping for women was introduced in the Olympic programme (sixth in normal hill at PyeongChang 2018).

Eleven-time World Championships medallist winning three individually (2011 gold, 2015 and 2019 bronze) and five with the team.

Competes in her 10th World Cup season, which puts her in the group of pioneers who were already around when the World Cup for women was established in 2011. Finished overall second in the first season and won the overall ranking in 2014/15. Always finished the overall ranking within the top-10. Won her first World Cup competition in February 2012 (Hinzenbach). Stands at 53 podium finishes and 16 wins.

Eight top-10 and one podium results (third in Nizhny Tagil) in the 2021/22 winter season. Finished sixth in the new Silvester Tour.

Holds the womens' ski flying world record since 2003 when she reached, as the first and only woman so far, 200m at Kulm (AUT).
