CAREER
In his World Cup debut on Jan 4, 2001 in the K.O. round of the Innsbruck leg of the Four Hills Tournament he lost his duel against Andreas Widhoelzl (AUT). 21 years later, on Feb 14, 2022, he became Olympic team champion, coached by Austria's national team coach Andreas Widhoelzl (who has won three Olympic medals himself, team gold in 2006, team bronze in 1998 and individual bronze also in 1998).

DOUBLE MEDALLISTS
With winning gold and silver, he became one of six ski jumpers won two medals in Beijing 2022. The others are Ursa BOGATAJ (SLO, two gold), Peter PREVC (SLO, gold and silver), Ryoyu KOBAYASHI (JPN, gold and silver), Nika KRIZNAR (SLO, gold and bronze), and Karl GEIGER (GER, two bronze).

AGE
At 36 years, 242 days, he became the oldest gold medallist in the men’s team event, far surpassing Wolfgang LOITZL (AUT), who was 30 years and 340 days in 2010. He also became the oldest Olympic champion in ski jumping and the oldest gold medallist representing Austria in history of the Olympic Winter Games (in any sport).

Milestones

OLYMPIC WINTER GAMES
Silver medallist in Beijing 2022. Ranked fifth after the first round, he won the second round and claimed the silver medal, 4,2 points behind Ryoyu Kobayashi (JPN) and 4,9 points ahead of Dawid Kubacki (POL). Aged 36 years and 234 days he is the second oldest Olympic medallist in ski jumping, outranked only by Noriaki Kasai (JPN) who was 41 when he won silver (large hill) and bronze (team) in Sochi 2014.
Finished seventh in the large hill event. He was also ranked fifth after the first round but fell back two places in the final round.

Gold medal in the team event in Beijing 2022, together with Jan Hoerl, Daniel Huber and Stefan Kraft.

Fifth in the inaugural 2022 mixed team event, after team member Daniela Iraschko-Stolz had been disqualified (suit) in the first round. Other team members were Lisa Eder and Stefan Kraft.

Was 32 years of age when he made his Olympic Winter Games debut at PyeongChang 2018, finishing fourth with the team, and individually 32nd (large hill) and 23rd (normal hill).

WORLD CHAMPIONSHIPS
In three World Championship appearances (2013, 2017, 2019), he has won two team medals (2013 gold, 2017 bronze). Individual best result is 12th in 2017 (normal hill).

Four-time medallist at the Junior World Championships, three with the team (2003 gold, 2001 and 2002 silver) and one individually on the normal hill (2002 silver).

WORLD CUP
Made his World Cup debut at the Austrian leg of the Four Hills Tournament in 2000/01 in Innsbruck (44th), and then finished fifth in his second career World Cup start in Bischofshofen two days later.

He has three individual podiums. all third places, in 2010 (at the Four Hills Tournament in Oberstdorf), 2016 (Ruka), and 2017 (Willingen) with no victories; and 14 podiums with the team (three victories, in 2017, 2021 and 2022). Did not compete in the World Cup between 2002-05.

In 2021/22, he was part of the Austrian winning team in Wisla and in Bischofshofen, which marks his second and third team World Cup win after Oslo 2017.
Individually he has two top-10 results in 2021/22, his best a fifth place in Bischofshofen.
