Alpine skiing: She was a talented alpine skier, and at age 12 she attended the Berchtesgaden CJD, Germany's alpine boarding school located in a small mountain village 1200m above sea level above the Berchtesgaden valley. (sport-talent.de, Feb 2020)
2007
June 2016: Hurt her back while in the gym and suffered through severe pain for months. Fully rehabilitated by October 2016. (Info 2018)
2008
Started out in sport as a talented alpine skier until she was introduced to skeleton through the then German Bobsleigh, Luge, and Skeleton Federation (BSD) general secretary and former World Cup downhill skier Stefan Krauss - whose daughter Alisa she was friends with and trained at SC Schellenbeg. “I called Peter Meyer, who was then national coach, and everything went very quickly." At the age of 15, she went directly to the S1, as she was already too old to start tobogganing, so it was headfirst into the ice channel. (teamdeutschland.de; sport-talent.de, Feb 2020)
After her six first runs on the skeleton track, she joined WSV Konigssee and knew: "This is my sport." (sport-talent.de, Feb 2020)
An Olympic medal is still missing in her career and Beijing 2022 Olympic Winter Games may be her last chance, especially at age 30. "Of course, to be celebrated as a medallist with this flair is still a very big goal for me. In PyeongChang 2018, things didn't go optimally with fifth place. Actually amazing, if you have to say that, but almost only the first three places count." (sport-talent.de, Feb 2020)
After her career, she imagines staying in the sport in order to pass on her experience to the youth. She has already started training as a trainer through the BSD (German Bobsleigh, Luge, and Skeleton Federation). (sport-talent.de, Feb 2020)
The sled she won her 2021 World title on was designed and produced by her coach Dirk Matschenz, also a materials specialist.
