2010 World Cup
April 2020: Contracted Covid-19. Had to adapt her training plans somewhat and could only start with gentle training in May 2020 when she took part in performance tests at the Olympic Center Campus Sport Tirol in Innsbruck. "I am very happy that my heart and lungs are OK and that I have nothing left from the coronavirus. Then I got the OK from the doctors to get started." (janine-flock.at, 4 Jun 2021)
2017: Dislocated her kneecap in a warm-up session for World Cup event in Winterberg, Germany. Required two weeks to recover from the injury. (ibsf.org, 14 Dec 2017)
2006
Was introduced to the sport in 2004 when a skeleton was brought to her school. "After the first visit I was hooked." (tt.com, 12 Dec 2018)
"It's fun and challenging at the same time, the viewing angle is spectacular, the speed and centrifugal forces enormous."
"We lie head first on our sled and race down the ice channel at speeds of up to 145 km/h. The combination of speed and the ability to optimally control it is fascinating." (janine-flock.at)
Although she did not win a medal at the 2021 World Championships in Altenberg (16th), and finished fourth at PyeongChang 2018, she is confident for the Beijing 2022 Olympic Winter Games. "Everything is geared towards Beijing 2022. By then, I want to have everything under control that I can control myself, to do everything that is in my hands. It's about the best possible preparation to get the most out of these two days at the Olympics. Until then, it is important to stay healthy and develop the material further so that I can start with a clear conscience.” (sportszene.tirol, 16 Mar 2020)
2021 SUMMER TRAINING
Started the 2021 summer season training with the Austrian men's team. “Training with the boys is not only more fun, it also pushes me. The training is compact and of high quality.” (janine-flock.at, 4 Jun 2021)
EQUIPMENT
When it comes to equipment material, she is extremely proud of the team she has around her. The Germans have the FES, (an institute for research and development of sports equipment) behind them the British McLaren, and engineers come with them to the competitions. "In the end, there are three of us in material development. I am the test pilot, Matthias and Clemens (Berauer), the technology freaks. And we have the support of the Rathgeber company, who can implement our ideas. That is very lucky." (sportszene.tirol, 16 Mar 2020)
Has many highlights such as winning her World Cup silver at home, and finishing fourth at the PyeongChang 2018 Olympic Winter Games. "I was able to experience and learn a lot." (sport.tirol, 2020)
Always has different role models. "I especially admire people who repeatedly suffer setbacks, but always get up and carry on no matter what." (sport.tirol, 2020)
"No gain without diligence - it's about finding the balance between hard work and the right moment to just do nothing, switch off, think, do what is good for you, recharge your batteries. These moments are usually those where new thoughts and ideas come and new projects emerge, only to be able to work hard on them again. For every goal, I need a structure and a plan where I can set my guidelines - but nowadays you need a good deal of flexibility." (sport.tirol, 2020)
