SANCTION
Was banned for one year from December 2019 to December 2020 by the Hungarian National Skating Federation after making an offensive comment about the People's Republic of China on his Instagram account following his arrival at Shanghai Airport, for a World Cup event. He deleted the post soon afterwards and apologised, but was ordered home by the federation. The Chinese head coach of the Hungarian team, Zhang Jing, resigned from her position when she saw the post, although her resignation was not accepted. He was banned from participating in the national team, including training sessions and camps, as well as any competitions on the Hungarian National Skating Federation racing calendar. "I had time to think, and now of course I understand what the problem was. As a national team athlete, I don’t just represent myself as an Olympic champion, and the first joke that comes to mind may not be the best."
