Father Yves Hamelin (Short track): Vice-president of performance services at the Institut National du Sport du Quebec. After working as a short track speed skating coach at the local and national level, he became director of high performance and national short track programmes at Speed Skating Canada from 2006-14, including for the 2010 and 2014 Olympic Winter Games, during which time the team won eight Olympic and 40 world championship medals.
Brother Francois Hamelin (Short track): Three-time Olympian (2010-18), winning relay gold at Vancouver 2010 alongside his brother Charles. World relay champion in 2011, after winning silver in 2008, and won a silver medal in the 500m in 2010. Four-time medallist at the World Team Championships. Won a total of 48 medals in international competition before his retirement in June 2018.

August 2021: Withdrew from the Canadian Championships for undisclosed medical reasons.
Late 2019: Severe ankle sprain during the early stage of the season which kept him out for several weeks.
2019: Bursitis in his left knee kept him off the ice for four weeks.
August 2013: Injured a ligament in his left ankle.
November 2009: Struck his head and was cut by skates when he crashed into the boards in a World Cup 1000m qualifying race in Marquette, MI, forcing him to pull out of the competition as a precaution.
