SWITCHING TO SHORT TRACK
After initially training as a long track skater, he changed to short track at 13 when he moved to Tver with his coach. "I had to retrain from a speed skater to a short tracker. These sports are related, but there are many differences in skating, technique and tactics. Short track is like chess on ice.
