November 2015: Fractured her left tibia and fibula bones at the World Cup event in Toronto, ON, CAN. Underwent two surgeries and took two years to return to World Cup competition in 2017. However, in 2021 she admitted the injured leg is not the same as the healthy one. "(They) don't work the same way. The leg that was operated on is definitely weaker. You can see with the naked eye that this muscle is different. But it's something I can't change in any way, and thinking like 'why does it have to be this way?' will do nothing." (sport.tvp.pl, 18 Oct 2021)

2015: Illness, fever and weakness during the off-season affected her preparation for the 2015/16 season.

To do well in the 3000m relay. "Building the relay has been our goal for several years. The fact that we are going to perform with the whole squad at the Olympic Games is thanks to the contribution of the whole group, including the guys who helped us to set up for this relay in training. The fact that our group is at the Olympics is just the beginning. It takes years to reach a high level and we are a very young group that has made huge progress. We will have even more chances in another four years." (sport.tvp.pl, 24 Jan 2022)

INJURY RECOVERY
After fracturing her left tibia and fibula bones at the World Cup event in Toronto, ON, CAN in 2015, a botched first surgery meant she required a second one later, and she briefly began to doubt her motivation.
"Questions started to arise: Why am I actually doing this? Does it make sense? Who am I now? And who do I want to be? Do I want to go back to sport? For a while I was not able to focus on what I was doing and on rehabilitation. It took me a few weeks of treatment."
When she got back on the ice, it was a long process to fully recover. "At the beginning, I went on the ice every second or third day, just to get in shape and get familiar with it. In fact, I had to learn to skate all over again, even though my body remembered the moves I had made up to that point. I spent a lot of time with junior high school students who had skating lessons. I was learning everything from scratch - the correct push off and the right position."
She was inspired by the story of Polish Formula One driver Robert Kubica's recovery from injury. "Listening to him after his injury, I knew he was touching on a problem that is partly mine. Looking at him, on his way, I felt that I was not alone - that there was a great athlete also struggling with an injury for a long time."
Eventually, she realised she wanted to return to the sport. "I am glad that I did not give up despite difficult moments. Sport is difficult and unpredictable, but beautiful. And hard moments are a part of this whole, which can always be sealed by something good. And thanks to this thought I did not give up - because I knew that something was still in front of me and I could pull it out. I owe where I am now to the very people who allowed me to believe in myself when I doubted myself." (sport.onet.pl, 27 Jan 2017, sport.tvp.pl, 18 Oct 2021)
