Milestones

OLYMPIC WINTER GAMES
Bronze medallist in the team event (large hill/4x5km) in Beijing 2022, with team members Akito and Yoshito Wasabe, and Ryota Yamamoto.
He finished 31st in large hill/10km and was not selected for the normal hill/10km event.

At 38 years, 165 days, he became the oldest medallist in the Nordic combined men’s team event, and the oldest medallist in any Nordic combined Olympic event.

Competed in Sochi 2014 and PyeongChang 2018, finished fifth (2014) and fourth (2018) with the team. Individually his best result was 12th in 2018 (Large hill/10km).

WORLD CHAMPIONSHIPS
Participated in six editions of World Championships. After his debut in 2007 (eigth with the team) it wasn't until 2013 that he got another chance. From then on he competed in all editions (2013 - 2021). His best individual result is a fifth place in 2013. With the team he finished fourth three times (2017, 2019, 2021).

WORLD CUP
Even though he was competing on a national level since 1996, he only debuted in the World Cup in 2012. He qualified by winning national championships and then via scoring points in the Continental Cup. He already scored World Cup points in his second start in the World Cup in Feb 2012.
He has nine individual top-10 finishes, his best result a sixth place in Sapporo in 2017. Three podiums with the team, but no World Cup victory so far.

SEASON 2021/22
Three top-20 results, his best was in the last Seefeld World Cup just before the Beijing 2022 Olympic Winter Games, when he finished 18th. He is currently ranked 24th in the overall World Cup.
