Father Klaus Faisst (Nordic combined): Competed at the World Cup level. Coach of his home club SV Baiersbronn.

Mother Andrea Faisst (Cross-country skiing/Football): Raced at the national level, then played football at FC Furtwangen.

Sister Melanie Faisst (Ski jumping): Competed at the World (2011) and Junior World Championships (2006, 2007, 2008, 2010), and was on the World Cup circuit from 2011-13 with one podium finish (third in 2011 in Lillehammer). Two-time German champion. Now plays football.

His father Klaus was a Nordic combined coach and let him try jumping from the 10 meter hill at the age of four. As a five-year-old, he already jumped from the 30 meter hill at his local club in Baiersborn. (manuel-faisst.de, 7 Sep 2021)

Milestones

OLYMPIC WINTER GAMES
Nominated for the large hill/10km event in Beijing 2022 to replace Terence Weber, who did not recover from COVID-19 soon enough to compete. Finished fourth in the final ranking, after bin fourth after the ski jumping part already.
Silver medallist in the team event (large hill/4x5km), together with Eric Frenzel, Vinzenz Geiger, and Julian Schmid.

After struggling with his form in 2017/18, he did not qualify for PyeongChang 2018.

WORLD CHAMPIONSHIPS
Three participations, 2017, 2019, 2021, his best result was 14th in the large hill/10km individual event in 2019.
In 2013, he won all three events (two individual and team) in the Junior World Championships in Liberec.

WORLD CUP
Five individual podiums, all third places, seven with the team, winning the team event in Sochi 2013 as his best result and first career podium at the same time. Finished overall 10th three consecutive years, from 2018/19 until 2020/21.

SEASON 2021/22
Had five top-10 results including a third place in Otepaeae (normal hill/10km, mass start) as his best result. He is currently ranked 16th in the overall World Cup.
