2013 World Cup in Innsbruck (Singles - 8th)
First tried luge at age 11 when a family ski trip coincided with a USA Luge Challenge event, designed to introduce kids to the sport. Gordy Sheer (USA), Nagano 1998 doubles Olympic silver medallist and marketing director for USA Luge, noticed her size and competitiveness - she didn't want her siblings to beat her down the track - and invited her to a training camp. "[There has] been a lot of reframing how I go about things for training and not putting the pressure on myself to be so motivated. I think within sport, there’s all of this push like 'Look at athletes, they’re so motivated. They’re so driven. That’s so great, they’re so competitive' and that was always me, but I felt really guilty still being in sport and not feeling that way. I still want to be here, I still want to compete, and I still have all of these goals, but trying to be an athlete without that insane, crazy drive and motivation, I felt guilty. It took me a while to realise that it’s okay if I just enjoy doing this a lot still, and still want to work hard and succeed, but I’m not the same that I was when I was 22." (slidingonice, 31 May 2021)
Being part of an all-USA podium at the Lake Placid World Cup in 2015, with Erin Hamlin and Emily Sweeney in the top-two positions. "I’ll never beat that, the only way that could ever be touched is maybe an Olympic medal or something. I’ve won World Cup races since then, I’ve gotten a podium in the overall since then, but that one World Cup can’t be touched. Sharing a podium with teammates is truly the best feeling."
