Played football for 10 years, but did not want to continue the sport when he entered university. At that time his father told him the Korean Luge Federation, in anticipation of hosting the PyeongChang 2018 Olympic Winter Games, was looking for new athletes, so he took up the sport at age 20 in 2013. "The biggest attraction above all is the speed. Riding in a car and riding a sled at the same speed are two different things. There is an exhilarating feeling of being able to control the sled subtly and manipulate the speed with my body." (syu.ac.kr, 6 March 2018)
Win an Olympic medal. (kbs.co.kr, 29 July 2020)
As opposed to their European counterparts who typically complete five runs per day, the Koreans were running up to 10 in the lead up to the PyeongChang 2018 Olympic Winter Games. (nate.com, 21 Feb 2018)
Finishing ninth in doubles at the PyeongChang 2018 Olympic Winter Games. "After the finish, the moment when the top-10 was decided was the best moment of my life. It was my first top-10. It was also the biggest stage at the Olympics. After overcoming adversity and pouring everything into the game, I looked around and cheered a lot. I will never forget the moment I saw [the result] with my own eyes, heard it with my own ears, and felt it with my whole body. I had tears of joy." (syu.ac.kr, 6 March 2018)
