First became interested in the sport watching the Vancouver 2010 Olympic Winter Games. For Christmas, her parents gifted her a tourist ride at the Calgary, AB track in her stocking. They went the next day. “I took that ride and it wasn’t like anything I’d ever experienced before. I really liked the speed and I really wanted to try it out and see how it goes.
