Mother Aiva Aparjode (nee Briede) (Luge/Bobsleigh): Competed in luge at an international level from 1996 to 2006. Finished 18th in singles at the Torino 2006 Olympic Winter Games. After the Games, she participated in bobsleigh for two seasons as both a driver and brakewoman. At the 2007 World Championships, she placed 18th in the two-woman and sixth in the team event.

Sister Kendija Aparjode (Luge): Placed fourth in singles and sixth in sprint at the 2020 World Championships. Teamed up with Aparjods and Andris Sics/Juris Sics in the relay for a second-place finish. In the 2021/22 season, recorded three podium finishes - as well as one fourth-place result - at two World Cup events in Sochi.

Orienteering: Has competed since childhood. Participated in the 2020 Latvian Championships.

Luger Martins Rubenis (LAT), whose bronze medal in singles at the Torino 2006 Olympic Winter Games was the first Winter Olympic medal for Latvia. Won two silver medals in singles and the relay at the 2003 World Championships and won the bronze medal in singles the following year in 2004.

Milestones

Beijing 2022 Olympic Games bronze medallist in the team relay.

Four top-10 finishes in three World Championships appearances (2015, 2019, 2020). In 2020 in Sochi, placed fifth in singles, seventh in sprint, and won a silver medal in the relay with his sister and Andris Sics/Juris Sics. His result in singles was good enough for a silver medal in the U23 division.

Won the 2020 U23 title at the European Championships in Lillehammer.

At the 2019 European Championships in Oberhof, his third-place finish made him the first Latvian man to medal in singles at the continental championships.

Two-time Junior World Championships medallist in singles - silver in 2016 and gold in 2017.

At the 2021/22 World Cup in Sochi, became the first Latvian to win a World Cup event in men's singles with a 0.024-second victory over Johannes Ludwig (GER), previously undefeated in singles on the season.
