Father Ivan Ivanov (Luge): National level luger within the Soviet Union. Began coaching in 1978, receiving the title of "Honoured Trainer of the RSFSR" in 1985 after training Vasily Karpov and Sergei Nagovitsyn to world junior titles. Became a coach with the Russian national team in 2012 and a senior coach in 2013, before resigning shortly after.

Mother Tatyana (Luge): Competed at a professional level.

Competed in Alpine skiing from age five until 12. When it became apparent that she would not become an elite skier, her father insisted she take up luge. OLYMPIC WINTER GAMES
Beijing 2022 Olympic Winter Games bronze medallist in singles.

Two-time Olympian. Became the second-youngest female Russian/Soviet luge athlete to compete at Vancouver 2010 and was the youngest female in the luge competition (18 years 364 days).

Only female to win an Olympic luge medal for the Russian Federation, after team relay silver at Sochi 2014, and was the first since Vera Zozula and Ingrida Amantova won the Soviet Union's only two women's medals (gold and bronze) at Lake Placid in 1980.

WORLD CHAMPIONSHIPS
Most championship medals of any Russian athlete with eight. Won her only world title in 2019, defeating Germany for the first time in the team relay, after losing by 0.08 seconds in 2012 and 2015, and finishing third behind them in 2017.

Won three individual silver medals including a 0.008 second loss to teammate Ekaterina Katnikova in the 2020 sprint in Sochi. Won bronze in 2016, finishing 0.001 seconds ahead of Tatjana Huefner (GER), after beating her to silver in 2015 by 0.005 seconds. Lost to Huefner in 2012 for her first championship medal.

WORLD CUP
Finished a career-high second overall twice, including losing to Julia Taubitz (GER) by eight points in 2019/20, after four wins and nine podiums. Also, finished second behind Taubitz in the sprint rankings.

First World Cup podium was in February 2011, losing to Tatjana Huefner (GER) by 0.013 seconds in Sigulda, during the last race of the season. Had her first win in the last race of the following season, this time defeating Huefner in Paramonovo.

One of only two non-Germans to win a race during the 2020/21 season, claiming victory in Altenberg and Sigulda.

EUROPEAN CHAMPIONSHIPS
Most successful athlete (male or female) at the European Championships with eight wins and 15 total medals, one more than Hans Rinn (GDR).

Became the first Soviet/Russian since Vera Zozula in 1976 to win the women's singles and the first non-German since Gerda Weissensteiner (ITA) in 1994.
