Milestones

OLYMPIC GAMES
Won the singles gold medal at the Beijing 2022 Olympic Winter Games, setting track records in runs 2 and 3 and a start record in run 2. With his gold medal, he is the oldest men's gold medallist in the sport (35 years, 357 days) and the second-oldest overall after fellow German Sylke Otto, who won women's singles gold in 2006.

Added a second gold at Beijing 2022 in the team relay - his second gold medal in the discipline.

Won singles bronze at PyeongChang 2018, finishing 0.002 seconds ahead of Dominik Fischnaller (ITA) in fourth. Finished ahead of teammate Felix Loch, who hit the wall on the final run, and qualified for the team relay, where he won gold alongside Natalie Geisenberger, Tobias Wendl and Tobias Arlt, who he had previously won relay gold with at the 2005 Junior World Championships.

WORLD CHAMPIONSHIPS
Won singles bronze at the 2013 World Championships in Whistler, his only individual medal. Part of an all-German podium, he finished 0.025 seconds behind silver medallist Andi Langenhan and 0.036 seconds ahead of David Moeller (GER) in fourth.

WORLD CUP
Recorded the first of his five World Cup wins in November 2016 at the season opener in Winterberg. He again topped the podium in the following year's season opener, before winning three consecutive stages during the 2019/20 season.

Despite not winning a single race, he finished the 2020/21 season a career-high second, after five top podium finishes, losing to season champion Felix Loch (GER) on each occasion.

EUROPEAN CHAMPIONSHIPS
Five-time European Championship medallist with three silver and two bronze. Finished second at the 2021 championships in Sigulda, for his second individual silver (first in 2014).
