Began competing in singles, including an eighth-place finish at the 2011 European Junior Championships. Partnered with Thomas Steu for the first time during the 2011/12 season, winning a bronze medal in the relay at the 2012 European Junior Championships in Winterberg. Two years later, the pair won the doubles title at the World Junior Championships in Innsbruck.

COVID-19
During the offseason in 2020, spent up to eight hours a day making face masks to combat the COVID-19 pandemic. With his father the owner of a saddlery, Koller learned how to sew at an early age, crafting bags, belts and backpacks for pocket money. (kurier.at, Jul 4 2020)

Won two medals at the Beijing 2022 Olympic Winter Games: a bronze in doubles and silver in the team relay.

Their overall World Cup title in 2020/21 broke an eight-year streak of victories by Germans Tobias Arlt/Tobias Wendl and Toni Eggert/Sascha Benecken. Steu/Koller posted four World Cup victories - including three in the first three races of the season - and appeared on the podium in nine of 12 events.

Four World Championships appearances (2016, 2017, 2019, 2021), with their best result in 2019 in Winterberg, placing third in doubles, third in sprint and second in the relay. In 2021, racing with Madeleine Egle and David Gleirscher in Koenigssee, won the relay world title by 0.038 seconds over the second-place Germans.

Won the Junior World Championships in 2014, as well as the U23 World Championships in 2017.
