Father Gerhard Gleirscher (Luge): Competed at three consecutive Olympic Winter Games (1992-1998), finishing seventh on each occasion. Won a complete set of World Championship medals, including mixed team gold and singles bronze in 1997 (Igls), after mixed team silver in 1991 (Winterberg).

Brother David Gleirscher (Luge): Dual medallist at the PyeongChang 2018 Olympic Winter Games, winning singles gold and team relay bronze. Four-time World Championship medallist, winning a gold (team relay) and two bronze (singles, sprint) in 2021, after sprint silver in 2020.

Grandfather Vinzenz Hoertnagl (Weightlifting): Two-time Olympian, competing in the heavyweight category at Montreal 1976 and Moscow 1980, where he finished fifth.

Milestones

WORLD CUP
Finished the 2020/21 season a career-high third, with two podiums, including his first individual win in February 2021, claiming the St. Mortitz singles in the last race of the season, just one week after winning the sprint title at the World Championships in Koenigssee.

Had his first career podium in November 2017 at the Winterberg sprint, finishing 0.017 seconds ahead of Ralf Palik (GER) in fourth. Second podium came three years later, again in Winterberg, where he finished second in the singles, 0.005 seconds ahead of Dominik Fischnaller (ITA) and 0.009 seconds ahead of teammate Jonas Mueller (AUT), who finished fourth.

Had one team relay win in January 2021 (Koenigssee), to round out his four career podiums.

JUNIOR
Four Junior World Championship medals in four appearances (2013-16), with a silver (2017 singles) and three bronze medals (2015 singles; 2016 and 2017 team relay).

Added four European Junior Championship medals after winning singles silver (2016) and bronze (2015, 2017), and team sprint bronze in 2015.

Seven Junior World Cup podiums, including one win in Innsbruck in January 2017.
