Husband Ben Sim (Cross-country skiing): Represented Australia at the Vancouver 2010 Olympic Winter Games, with two top-50 finishes. Has five World Championships appearances (2003-11) and a top-30 finish at the 2009 World Cup in Beitostoelen (15km free).
Alpine skiing: Competed at the national level from 2003-2012.
2008 World Cup in Deer Valley (Ski Cross - 20th)
December 2020: Dislocated elbow at the World Cup in Val Thorens, one week after her podium finish in Arosa. Had to fly back to Australia, spend 15 days in hotel quarantine, and was unable to move her arm during the Christmas holidays. Missed the remainder of the season. (Athlete, 2021)
April 2013: Suffered a minor infarct stroke (cerebral infarction). Spent five days in the hospital and required subsequent private treatment. Returned to light training a couple of months later, before returning to full training. (owia.org)
2010
Learned to ski as a toddler and continued to ski while playing touch football and competing in surf life-saving. Alpine ski racer before trying ski cross at age 19. (Athlete, Apr 2021)

Athletes must have aerobic and anaerobic fitness, be extremely strong yet nimble and on top of all that, have the high technical ability of an alpine skier with the determination of a race car driver.
