2021: 11 days before the 2021 World Championships she was hospitalized for a kidney infection. Made a full recovery and won a gold medal.

2014: Developed a 10cm cyst on her lung, due to inflammation, after being winded from landing on her back, after jumping off a water ramp (the height of a five-story building) in Quebec, Canada. (canberratimes.com.au, 16 Jan 2015)

2013: Crashed during a training camp in Ruka, Finland, nine months before the Sochi 2014 Olympic Winter Games. Misjudged a twisting somersault and had not completed the trick before landing (leaving her short a quarter-twist and a quarter-flip). Started skiing at age three with her family at the Winter Sports Club at Perisher Valley in Kosciuszko National Park and had been doing gymnastics from age five (Woden Valley Gymnastics Club). It was the Victorian Institute of Sport who suggested she combine her two passions and take up aerial skiing.

Discovered in 2007 by five-time World champion Jacqui Cooper (AUS) when she was a teenage level-10 gymnast in Canberra. Cooper referred to Peel as her "stunt double", and as they were similar in stature, she gave her all her old uniforms. (smh.com.au, 16 Jan 2012; olympics.com.au, 15 Aug 2017; canberratimes.com.au, 16 Jan 2015).

“I love that aerial skiing pushes me to my absolute limit, it’s pretty cool to see how far you can go, and usually it’s a lot further than you think.” (owia.org, 17 Apr 2015)

General Interest

RELATIONSHIP WITH JACQUI COOPER
Not only did aerials World champion Jacqui Cooper (AUS) discover Peel, she dreamt that Peel was going to win the 2015 World Championships, which she did. When they spoke after the victory, Cooper told Peel it was one of the proudest moments of her life, even more than winning herself. About Peel, Cooper said, "The thing I love about her most is that she's never satisfied, she's always looking for perfection. You get an athlete like that and you know they're going to achieve greatness." (canberratimes.com.au, 16 Jan 2015).

COVID-19
Due to the travel restrictions and quarantine rules imposed by the Australian government in 2020, she spent nine months away from home to be able to train and compete without breaks, a period that ended in March 2021, after she won the World Championships in Almaty.

Milestones

Made her Olympic Winter Games debut at Sochi 2014. Had her best Olympic performance of fifth in aerials at PyeongChang 2018.

In 2015, became the fourth Australian to win an aerials World Championship title. (Kirstie Marshall, 1997; Jacqui Cooper, 1999; Alisa Camplin, 2003)

Set a World Cup personal best score (106.53 points) in February 2020, after winning gold in Minsk.

During the World Cup 2019/20 season, jumped triple back somersaults in competition for the first time, won four medals (including two victories), and won the aerials Crystal Globe.

Became the fifth Australian female to win an aerials World Cup, with her victory in Kreischberg (2012).

“Winning a crystal globe had been a goal of mine for almost a decade and it came down to the very last event of the 2019/20 season. Putting that final jump to my feet in Krasnoyarsk and walking away with a World Cup win and the globe was a combination of relief and pure bliss.” (fis-ski.com, 23 Nov 2020)
