2021: 11 days before the 2021 World Championships she was hospitalized for a kidney infection. Made a full recovery and won a gold medal.
2014: Developed a 10cm cyst on her lung, due to inflammation, after being winded from landing on her back, after jumping off a water ramp (the height of a five-story building) in Quebec, Canada. (canberratimes.com.au, 16 Jan 2015)
2013: Crashed during a training camp in Ruka, Finland, nine months before the Sochi 2014 Olympic Winter Games. Misjudged a twisting somersault and had not completed the trick before landing (leaving her short a quarter-twist and a quarter-flip). Required right ankle surgery but recovered in time to make her Olympic debut in Sochi. (theaustralian.com.au, 12 Feb 2018)

Started skiing at age three with her family at the Winter Sports Club at Perisher Valley in Kosciuszko National Park and had been doing gymnastics from age five (Woden Valley Gymnastics Club). It was the Victorian Institute of Sport who suggested she combine her two passions and take up aerial skiing.
Discovered in 2007 by five-time World champion Jacqui Cooper (AUS) when she was a teenage level-10 gymnast in Canberra. Cooper referred to Peel as her "stunt double", and as they were similar in stature, she gave her all her old uniforms.
