Post gymnastics, she tried a number of different sports before she was recruited to aerial skiing by World champion and five-time Olympian Jacqui Cooper. Began skiing at the age of 16 and performed her first back layouts on snow at 19. (mamamia.com.au; owia.org)

Switching from gymnastics to aerial skiing she thought that the process was quite exciting as she had trained 30 hours a week in a gymnasium for most of her childhood. Being given the opportunity to travel and train in the outdoors, was something she instantly enjoyed. (mamamia.com)

Winning a medal at Beijing 2022 Olympic Winter Games, saying she will have to nail the triple in Beijing to be in medal contention. "Women's aerials has progressed a lot in the last four years and you really have to be doing those triples just to be getting through the rounds and end up on the podium." General Interest

MEDIA
One of Australia's most publicised female winter athletes, featured regularly across mainstream television, online, and print media. (lampoon.com.au)

WATER RAMP TRAINING
Her stunning comeback from knee surgery in 2019 was possible because she could train all year round at Australia's new world-class winter Olympic sports facility in Brisbane, Queensland, which offers jumps and pools for aerialists. During Covid-19 border closures she had the facility to herself. "The development aerial skiers and mogul guys went to the snow and then they couldn't get across the border to Brisbane. It was very lonely - me by myself for two or three months - but when I'm in training mode no-one else really matters." (au.sports.yahoo.com, 30 Oct 2021)

FAMILY RELATION
Related to Scottish historical novelist and poet Walter Scott. (Info 2018)

Milestones

OLYMPIC WINTER GAMES
Competed at 2014 and 2018 Olympic Winter Games, finishing ninth in her debut in Sochi, making her childhood Olympic dreams come true. She describes PyeongChang 2018, as a "big disappointment" for the entire women's field, who had to compete in atrocious conditions. "It was the lowest-scoring final in history. The first night of qualification I was in third and went straight through which was awesome but then the next night for finals was really tough. I'm glad I made the finals but (finishing 12th) it was nowhere near the performance I was after." (FIS Freestyle Skiing YouTube, 15 Dec 2017; au.sports.yahoo.com, 30 Oct 2021)

WORLD CHAMPIONSHIPS
Two-time World Championships aerials medallist winning silver in 2017, and bronze in 2013. She just missed the podium in 2021 in Kazakhstan, finishing fourth (just a few weeks after winning the first event back after her knee surgery). She looked to have stuck the landing of her triple-twisting triple somersault only to get turned around after her ski caught an edge, bumping her out of the medals.

WORLD CUP
In four appearances (2013-21), she has never finished lower than fifth. Her first World Cup podium was in 2014 (second in Lake Placid); her first podium victory was in 2015 (Moscow). Of her 11 World Cup podiums, four are victories (end of 2020/21). In 2014/15, she was the most consistent Australian aerial skier, finishing third in the World Cup overall standings, and was second overall in the 2016 and 2017 seasons.

YOUNGEST
Youngest recipient ever of an Australia Institute of Sport scholarship (AIS) when she was just seven years old, for gymnastics. (lampoon.com.au)
