Was getting more involved with the sport after moving away from home at 13 to try aerial skiing. Was invited to try it and loved it but in order to pursue aerial skiing, had to either move to Lake Placid, New York or Park City, Utah. After completing a week-long camp, was invited by three-time Olympian Emily Cook. She moved to Park City, Utah to train and compete for the next three years on the Fly Freestyle elite development team.

“I’d barely done backflips on a trampoline or anything like that, so I had no acrobatic experience. I knew how to ski, but I didn’t know how to flip.” (eu.petoskeynews.com; nbcchicago.com, 16 Dec 2021)

Was the 2011 recipient of the Annika Inspiration Award. At that event, she met Aerial’s Olympian Emily Cook, who convinced her to try out for the Fly Elite Freestyle Aerials team in Park City. (triathloninspires.com)

"Getting on the podium at the Olympics is the ultimate goal. I hope I’m able to show others that if a 9-year-old girl from a rural town in northern Michigan can have an impact on the world, anyone can do the same. I challenge people to not only dream but to dream big." (mynamemystory.org; eu.petoskeynews.com)

“Never give in! Never give up! Despite the critics, the naysayers, those that say it is impossible, you can’t, you won’t. Never give in." (triathloninspires.com)

MISSION
Her father Michael passed away at age 40 from a rare, aggressive form of prostate cancer on 12 March 2009, when she was nine and has since dedicated part of her life to raising money in the hopes of one day finding a cure for one of the most deadly cancers for men. She teamed up with the Prostate Cancer Foundation and donated trophies she won from competing in marathons and triathlons to patients, raising over $100,000 in the first year alone. Her non-profit organisation Team Winter has since raised $500,000 (USD) and hopes to make an impact on others when she competes at the Olympic Winter Games. (nbcchicago.com, 16 Dec 2021)

HONOURING HER FATHER
Her dream to get to the Olympic Winter Games and to stand on an Olympic podium is for her dad and the men affected by prostate cancer and their families. (nbcchicago.com, 16 Dec 2021)
