Unlike most professional skiers, she grew up on the California coast in Carmel, about five hours from the mountains of Lake Tahoe. As a child, she became involved in almost every sport offered to her, including swimming, water polo, football, and basketball. Started skiing at age three and she always wanted to emulate her older brothers, who joined the freestyle ski team when she was really young. At eight, she joined the freestyle team at Alpine Meadows, and at 14 started competing in all five freestyle disciplines. Much later she chose to specialise in halfpipe skiing. (britasig.com)
Chose to specialise in halfpipe skiing because she couldn't compete in all five freestyle skiing disciplines on the same day. (blog.liftopia.com)
