General Interest

THE CRASH IN SAAS-FEE
In 2020, crashed during training while attempting to perform a new trick (switch double cork 1440). “The first thing I remember was the pain. I just shut my eyes, and I was just screaming in immediate, horrible pain, and thinking to myself, ‘This is bad. This is really not good.’ And I knew if I was already in that much pain after having so much adrenaline just before the crash. Honestly, it crossed my mind that I might die. I had grabbed Riddle’s (Mike) hand, and I was just like, ‘Do not let me die. Do not let me die. But if I do die, tell everyone that I love skiing, I love my fiancee, and I love my family and friends. Tell them that.'" (olympics.nbcsports.com, Nov 2020)

“The injury has taught me some good things. It reminds me to try to see one to five positives a day, to find something good about every single day. It’s been a blessing in disguise.” (teamusa.org, 9 Dec 2020)

MARRIAGE
In August 2021, married Morgan McNallie (nurse practitioner) on the Amalfi Coast in Italy. "To submerge ourselves in a culture that values life and love was so important to us." (Morgan McNallie Instagram, 19 Sep 2021)

OLYMPIC LULLABY
Was a fussy baby when the Atlanta 1996 Olympic Games were on, and when his parents couldn't get him to sleep at night, they would hum the NBC Sports TV Olympic anthem, which did the trick every time, leaving his parents to celebrate like a victorious medallist. (pressreader.com, 18 Feb 2014)
