General Interest

WINNING GLOBAL TITLE AFTER KNEE INJURY
Suffered a serious knee injury in December 2019 and returned to competition after over a year of rehabilitation managed by her parents (Alexander and Oksana Nizhegorodov) whose business focuses on sports psychophysiology. "Frankly, it was hard. Both physically and emotionally. Many did not believe in me. They said that I overestimate myself." (Instagram, 21 Mar 2021).

PRESIDENTIAL CONGRATS MESSAGE
After winning the gold medal at the 2021 World Championships in Aspen she was congratulated by her president. "This morning I got the message from our president, from Vladimir Putin. I wasn’t expecting that but I saw my phone and I was like 'oh my god!'" (Snowbeat TV Show, Feb/March 2021)

PROGRESSING IN HER SPORT
At the 2021 World Championships, where she won the gold medal, her teammate Lana Prusakova won the silver medal. "We’re the first in our disciplines from our country, we’re the first from Russia who made it to the Globes, who made it to the World Champs, and I hope now our sport will be more available for other people. Now there’s more and more people knowing about us, knowing about our sport, because three years ago when I went to school my classmate asked me ‘what sport do you do?’ and I said 'it’s freestyle skiing' and then he said ‘What? It’s like dancing or something like this?'" (Snowbeat TV Show, Feb/March 2021)
