At the age of seven, he began to engage in ski training in Monchegorsk under the guidance of coach Vladimir Shein. In 2011 he became the winner of the open championship of the Murmansk region in alpine skiing. In the same year, at the suggestion of the scouts of the Russian national team, he switched to freestyle. (tass.ru)

He would like to repeat his PyeongChang 2018 result or be better at Beijing 2022. "I have already reached one step - I won an Olympic medal. My next goals are the World Cup medal at the end of the season and the World Championship medal. We must gradually move towards our goals, gradually achieving them, and not promise everyone mountains of gold." (sport.ria.ru, 27 Feb 2018)

Besides his ambitions in the sport, he is committed to developing his sport in his community through sports tourism. (prisp.ru, May 2019)

In July 2019 the team trained on rollerblades at a pump track near Moscow: "We tightened up both technique and 'physics'. Such training is as close as possible to preparation on the ski-cross track. Working out such elements as waves, turns, counter-bends is an integral part of my discipline. But to be honest... I don't like to ride on roller skates." (teamrussia.pro, 2019)

General Interest

CELEBRATING HIS OLYMPIC MEDAL
“I'm exhausted now and I want to leave here as soon as possible to my room. And after the finish, I cried, to be honest. I cried because I achieved my goal, my dream. What I experienced on the track is beyond words. As you have seen, I left the gate in different ways: sometimes good, sometimes bad. I dedicate the medal to my mother, relatives, and the city of Monchegorsk. There is no time to stop, but I will drink champagne." (gazeta.ru, 26 Feb 2018)

MARRIAGE AND SPORTS CAREER COMBO
"It's harder to go to training, to go to training camps. It's more joyful to come home. I'm trying to get used to it, my wife supports me with all her heart and soul. Both in sports and in other endeavors. She knows, for example, how I experience losses and failures, understands everything." (teamrussia.pro, 2019).

Milestones

Competed with an injury coming into the ski cross finals at the PyeongChang 2018 Olympic Winter Games, where he collided with Canadian Kevin Drury (whose ski came off), they both fell, but he got up and finished in third, winning the bronze medal, becoming the first Russian freestyle skier to win an Olympic medal in ski cross and their 12th of the Games. “The feeling is colossal from the whole situation that has developed around the Games, there has never been such an Olympics. I see that the medal hangs around my neck, but I still don’t believe that I am the third at the Olympics - the start of my whole life." (gazeta.ru, 26 Feb 2018)

Won his second-straight bronze medal in ski cross at the Beijing 2022 Olympic Winter Games.

Competed at three World Championships (2015, 2019, 2021) and two Junior World Championships (seventh in 2012 and 2013).

Winning the 2017 World Cup in Montafon was his first career podium victory and just the second-ever ski cross World Cup victory for Russian Federation.

In 2015, he finished second in both World Cup races in Arosa.

Russian National ski cross champion in 2015, and two-time silver medallist (2015, 2021).
