Put her first pair of skis on at age three and by fifth grade, she was competing, and despite her parents being reluctant, eventually, they were persuaded by her coaches.

Started freestyle skiing in 2000 at age 10, after seeing a video of Maiko Tsjui and wanting to also follow her sister into the sport. Once in high school, she quit the sport due to a lack of significant results and the wish to be independent, enrolling in beauty school.

After graduating and she started working, she came across an indoor skiing facility nearby where she was living and made the decision to go back and have a second life in skiing. (johoku.sub.jp; Athlete, Jun 2021)
