Did competitive gymnastics for eight years always hoping to go to the Olympic Games in that sport. Started skiing around age 15. "My brother eventually convinced me to go to the hill with him and try freestyle for a day. I fell in love with it instantly and joined a team the following season. I spent my first year skiing at Mount St. Louis with a local team called Agenda Freeski." (Athlete, May 2021)
Was drawn to freeskiing mostly because of her gymnastics background, finding joy in pushing her body to learn new and difficult maneuvers. "I was always handstand walking around the house and doing back-handsprings and backflips during recess. When I finally found skiing, I realized it incorporated a lot of the same aspects but in a much more freeing atmosphere. I love the feeling of adrenaline that comes with soaring through the air." (Athlete, May 2021)

Brother Bruce, since he pushed her to get into the sport, even though she wasn't all that interested at first. He spent hours on the trampoline with her, would teach her the sets and progressions for new tricks, helped her build a strong foundation and air awareness that allowed her to progress rapidly in the sport. She enjoys skiing and filming together with him. (Athlete, May 2021)

The sport involves a lot of moments of feeling uncomfortable - learning new tricks, injury, competition pressure, etc. "Comfortable being uncomfortable. If you can learn to be comfortable being uncomfortable, then everything comes a lot easier." (Athlete, May 2021)
