Parents introduced him to skis at age three, discovering halfpipe at 14 when he started going to the Canada Olympic Park, near his home in Calgary, Alberta. Started competing in freeskiing events, thinking that he would never be able to compete at the Olympic Winter Games because it wasn't on the Olympic programme.
